Yesterday during a simple ceremony at its New Market Street location, Republic Bank,Drew Bledsoe Patriots Jersey, in association with the University of Guyana, awarded the two winners of the ‘Republic Bank/University of Guyana Awards’.The two awardees were Ms. Khafka Alexander who earned the Republic Bank Limited Chairman’s Award for Best Graduating Student with a Bachelor’s Degree in the Faculty of Social Sciences, and Ms. Kenesha Collins who copped the Republic Bank Limited Award for the Best Graduating Student with a Diploma in Banking and Finance. The awardees received cheques for G$150,000 and G$100,000 respectively, and a plaque in recognition of their efforts.Receiving the award on behalf of Ms. Alexander was UG’s Acting Vice Chancellor, Tota Mangar.Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Republic Bank’s Branch Operations Manager,Atlanta Falcons Jersey, Denise Hobbs said that the occasion marked a ‘special day’ for the bank in that they were all gathered to duly reward the top performers in the Social Sciences.
