City Mayor Hamilton Green, expressed his disbelief yesterday when he learnt that up to noon no police officer had visited City Hall, in the quest to investigate allegations of a multi-million-dollar fraud at the city entity.He has attributed the fraud to the mismanagement of the city,Sean Rodriguez Jersey, due to the fact that the Mayor and Councillors have limited authority to deal condignly and effectively with officers because of existing laws, regulations and systems.“We had hoped that out of the Local Government Reform dialogue, that the elected officials,New York Yankees Jon Niese Jersey, the Mayor and Councillors would be able to be vested with some authority to deal with officers, because at the end of the day, the perception by the average citizen is that we are the culprits. He said that he was out of the country when the fraud was uncovered.He related that from all indications, council officers had brought the matter to the attention of Commissioner of Inquiry,New York Yankees Matt Holliday Jersey, Keith Burrowes, who some 10 months ago commenced an inquiry into the financial affairs of the municipality.He is currently tasked with modifying the report, which was some weeks ago submitted to Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Kellawan Lall. Lall was instrumental in activating the inquiry, prompted by the municipality’s 2007 Auditor General Report, which highlighted major financial discrepancies and mismanagement.According to Mayor Green, Burrowes has made some comments with regards to the alleged fraud.
