The PPP/C never had Ministers sitting on the PAC or other committees, they were all back benchers. And we are now advised by the A Partnership for National Unity/Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) that this is a new Government, new approach. Those are their very words” Edghill noted.Edghill went on to reveal that at the time he proposed the Government go ahead with the nominations to those committees, but that the two sides “meet and talk to find a political solution. He pointed out that “if APNU+AFC have 26 ministers out of 33 elected members of the National Assembly, they (will have difficulties) in finding non-Ministers for these Committees.”However, Edghill stated that his overtures were rejected, as they went ahead and named all their members to the committees. The Bishop went on to forward these events as evidence of the “insincerity and hypocrisy” of the Government, at a time when it is promulgating discussions of social cohesion.Calling these disclosures “offensive and startling”, Dr. Roger Luncheon accused the government of altering the composition of these committees solely for the purpose of providing “control that is so much a fetish” of the Government. He declared that the move by Government was “outlawed”.While the PAC is to have Minister of Social Protection Volda Lawrence, the Parliamentary Sectoral Committees on Economic Services will have Minister of Foreign Affairs Carl Greenidge, Agriculture Minister Noel Holder,Cheap Sports Jerseys, Junior Minister of Finance Jaipaul Sharma, and Junior Minister of Social Protection Simona Broomes, with the alternate being backbencher Jennifer Wade.The PPP/C MPs on this committee were named as former Housing Minister Irfaan Ali, Edghill, Komal Chand and Collin Croal.The Ministers sitting on the Social Services Sectoral Committee are Natural Resources and Governance Minister Raphael Trotman, Junior Minister of Public Health Karen Cummings and Junior Minister of Indigenous Peoples Affairs Valarie Garrido-Lowe. John Adams will be the APNU+AFC representative on the committee.For the PPP/C, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, Alistair Charlie and Indra Chandarpal, with Dr. Vishwa Mahadeo as an alternate, will comprise the Social Services Committee.The Foreign Relations Standing Committee will have Minister Lawrence, Minister of Indigenous Affairs Sydney Allicock, Business Affairs Minister Dominic Gaskin and Hemraj Rajkumar, with the alternate being John Adams.
