Following the disappearance of some $6M in seized liquor from its Eccles bond, the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) says that a number of security personnel from a private firm are in police custody.The tax agency yesterday disclosed that the privately contracted firm, Professional Guard Services (PGS), received and reviewed the security footage of the activities at its Eccles warehouse facility, and “has positively identified personnel from its service as being actively involved in the criminal act and the suspects have since named their accomplices.”The guards were questioned in the presence of their supervisors, police and staffers of the GRA’s Law Enforcement and Investigation Division (LEID). They were subsequently placed in police custody, GRA said.“As stated in its previous release, the GRA continues to hold PGS responsible for the loss and is awaiting the necessary response before considering further action.
