Thousands of individuals conduting business at Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) offices across the country, are still being inconvenienced to some extent by the recent network disruption caused by lightning damage, which forced delays in the delivery of services, especially the processing of Customs Entries and the sale of Motor Vehicle Licences.The Total Revenue Integrated Processing System (TRIPS) and the Licence Revenue Processing System (LRPS) were affected.Limited service has been restored to all locations, while the processing time for transactions has increased, the GRA noted in a release on Wednesday.As a result of the delays and unusual build-up of transactions that resulted from the shutdown of the system, the entity asked that motorists delay the renewal of Motor Vehicle Licences until the situation returns to normalcy and full services are restored to the Licence Revenue Office (LRO).The GRA is considering an extension of the grace period for the sale and purchase of motor vehicles on account of the service disruption.In the meantime, priority is being given to Customs declarations (entries) which were already lodged with the Customs and Trade Administration, and the Authority is asking imporers to be patient,Wholesale Jerseys China, during this period, with the expected delays while the backlog of transactions is being processed.It was disclosed that the network disruption was caused by lightning damage which affected critical communication equipment during the recent inclement weather.The GRA stated that in the present circumstances, priority will be given to the processing of transactions that have specific due dates such as VAT, as well as to the processing of imports and exports at the wharves.GRA also indicated that efforts are being made to have the network restored to full capacity in the shortest possible time, while motorists will be further informed of any changes in the system. |
