Godfrey Chin’s pictorial exhibition of 20th century Guyana moves on to the Conference Room of the National Library as that institution continues to celebrate its centennial year. Opening day is Wednesday with the theme “A Bird’s Eye View of Georgetown from the Perspective of the National Library.”The display will include over 200 pictures reflecting the history of the Library and events that took place in its environs.The National Library is celebrating its centennial.These include – the Annual Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph,Deion Sanders Falcons Jersey, the Black Fridays of 1913,Andre Branch Dolphins Jersey, 1945,Wholesale Authentic Jerseys, 1951 and 1962 – other fires at Sacred Heart Church,Cheap Sports Jerseys, Brickdam Cathedral and the Park Hotel – Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation in 1953; and the rebuilding of the downtown shopping centre.There will also be a section highlighting ‘our road to literacy’ with a look at festivals & sporting events.Godfrey Chin will hand over 1500 books collected from the Diaspora and will hold mini – lectures for the public every hour on the hour from 9am to 4pm. Career opportunities at the Library will also be showcased.Joint sponsors,Kyle Korver Hawks Jersey, Banks DIH Ltd. & GT&T – will mount a ‘Know Your Country Competition’,Marlon Humphrey Jersey, which gives every visitor a chance to win prizes for correctly identifying pictures. |
