NEW AMSTERDAM, BERBICE – The fourth batch of Neighbourhood Police ranks in Division ‘B’ of the Guyana Police Force is expected to commence training shortly.The 30 persons should have started going through their paces on February 27th, but due to some setbacks could not have done so.Assistant Commissioner of Police George Alexander Vyphuis Commander of Division ‘B’ of the Guyana Police Force, Assistant Commissioner George Alexander Vyphuis, explained that more emphasis is being placed on neighbourhood policing to ensure that the upper limit of results is achieved from the ranks, since this component was added to boost the crime-fighting capability of the Guyana Police Force. More so, having these ranks can be very effective in and helpful to the communities.The Commander is calling on persons to be a part of the initiative. Meanwhile, the older batches of Neighbourhood Police ranks are to be re-trained.To become a part of the Neighbourhood Police initiative, approval must be given by the Regional Administration or the respective Neighbourhood Democratic Council in which the applicant lives.
