The Environmental Community Health Organisation (ECHO) is set to step up its efforts a notch with the introduction of yet another innovative venture geared at raising awareness on environmental issues.According to ECHO Executive Director, Royston King,NBA Authentic Jerseys, the second level of engagement between ECHO and local communities on environmental issues will be dubbed ‘the Green Ambassador Programme’.This introduction, he said, is an environmental education programme that will empower youths to be agents of change in their schools and local communities. This programme will be assisted by the introduction of an ECHO website.Last Friday, ECHO hosted a special environmental seminar for 95 eco-club members. The objective of that event was to raise awareness on serious issues such as El Nino and its impact on the local communities, climate change, water purification and conservation, and sanitation and to encourage club members to take leadership on environmental concerns.It was supported by the Ministry of Education, PAHO/WHO, Cara Lodge, and other members of the private sector.The children were drawn from 10 primary schools in regions Three and Four. Currently, ECHO has 10 eco-clubs in the two regions. However, plans are in train to establish more than 100 in all the administrative regions of the country. This move was the first level of intervention in the local community.And the third level of interaction with communities will be the establishment of eco-teams, according to King.
