The Godwin McPherson Foundation which is a non-governmental, non-profit, charity organization, in collaboration with the All Saints Presbyterian Developmental Centre (ASPDC) and the National United Nations Volunteer (UNV), recently presented a quantity of books to a number of secondary schools in New Amsterdam.A simple presentation ceremony was recently held at the ASPDC Multi-purpose Hall.The books are valued at $130,000.Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Mr. Jevaughn Stephen and Ms. Marian Tinnie highlighted some of the works of the late Godwin McPherson.The schools benefitting from the donation are Berbice High, Tutorial Academy Secondary, New Amsterdam Multilateral, Berbice Educational Institute and Vryman’s Erven Secondary. McPherson once attended Berbice High School.Godwin Mc Pherson who hailed from Litchfield, West Coast Berbice, was a retired Colonel of the Guyana Defence Force. He died just over a year ago, and during his tenure he served the organization with distinction – once acting as Chief of Staff.The Godwin McPherson Foundation is headed by former Chief of Staff, Brigadier Edward Collins and Colonel Larry London.The students and teachers were thrilled by the gift. They thanked the Foundation and All Saints Presbyterian Developmental Centre for the initiative,Cheap Jerseys, and negotiated future support. |
