The media can play a major role in arresting harmful cultural norms as it relates to the Human Immuno-deficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS). This notion has been underscored by the Guyana HIV/AIDS Reduction and Prevention (GHARP) Programme II.Against this backdrop, GHARP Phase II, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health’s National AIDS Programme Secretariat, is seeking to engage a programme which is geared at addressing the unacceptable norm with the support of the media.According to Prevention Director,Throwback Jerseys, Dr Karen Gordon-Boyle,Deion Jones Falcons Jersey, the collaborating entities have recognised “the powerful role the media can play in tabling and challenging what are becoming harmful norms.”With this observation in mind she related that through the collaborative effort, a proposal has been made to partner with all recognised media houses to build the capacity of relevant staff to highlight various issues using the available communication channels, be it print, television,Marlon Humphrey Jersey, internet and/or radio.Dr Boyle revealed that invitations have already been extended to media houses to attend a consultation meeting to explore specific skills building needs.
