Popular NTN Radio Announcer Ossie Rogers, who, according to Magistrate Alex Moore, thought he was above the law, was on Friday last found guilty on two of three charges.Rogers was fined $100,000 and ordered to do 53 hours of community service by the Magistrate, who found him guilty of resisting arrest and failing to obey a lawful direction by a police officer.Ossie RogersHe was also charged with driving a vehicle with a tinted glass without a permit.  However, that matter was dismissed by the Magistrate because the police officer did not use a tint meter.The court heard that Rogers, who hosts a morning show on radio,Gabriel Jersey, committed the offences on August 12, on the Sparendaam Public Road, within the vicinity of the Sparendaam Police Station.Court documents revealed that the radio announcer was stopped by the police officer, who informed him about the tinted windows of his vehicle. However he became abusive and subsequently resisted arrest.He was finally subdued and taken to the Sparendaam Police Station where he was charged with the said offences.When he was brought before Magistrate Moore, he had pleaded not guilty to the charges.On Friday last, before the decision was handed down, Magistrate Moore told Rogers in a stern manner that if he were to be brought back to the court for the similar charges, he would be “jailed.”While Rogers has up to January next year to pay the fine, his community service is expected to start today at the Sparendaam Police Station and has to be completed by December 5.
