Lennox Roberts and David Crossman the two accused in the recent ganja bust at the Bartica ferry stelling on Monday, made their appearance in the Bartica Magistrate’s Court session before presiding Magistrate Haywant Ramdhani on Thursday.They faced separate charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking .David Crossman (left) and Lennox RobertsLennox Roberts, represented by Counsel Mr Peter Hugh, entered a not guilty plea when the charge was read to him. David Crossman who was unrepresented, also pleaded not guilty.The allegation is that around 19:00 hours on the Bartica ferry stelling,Justin Verlander Tigers Jersey, Roberts had in his possession just over one kilogram of Cannabis Sativa for the purpose of trafficking .Crossman allegedly had 840 grams of Cannabis Sativa for the purpose of trafficking.Both men were remanded until November 18.And Michelle Atkinson and Julius Jones have been ordered to stand trial in the Essequibo High court for murder. They both made another appearance before Magistrate Faith Mc GustyAtkinson is charged with killing Mohamed Talbot in February 2009 at the Kurupung Backdam.Talbot died of a stab wound during an altercation with the defendant.Julius Jones, also known as ‘ Strong Boy’, of Duncan Street, Campbellville, Georgetown , is charged with killing Errol Inniss on May 25, 2008 at the Aranka Backdam, Cuyuni River. |
