Berbice will have its own mega Mash Float Parade on Mash Day this year. The following Sunday the Region will still have the traditional Mash Last- Lap Tramp down on Main Street in the town. “We’re having two float days but they are not conflicting with each other.” She added that Corriverton and Rose Hall Town usually have their own float parades on Mash Day in Berbice and “since New Amsterdam is the oldest town in the country, we should lead by example and that is what we are doing”.After the float parade on February 23, there will be the Miss Mash ‘XXX’ Pageant at the New Amsterdam Technical Institute from 20:00 hrs, where the ‘full- figured’ girls will be competing. “Last year we had the ‘fine’ girls and this year, it will be the bigger girls”. A walk through will be done throughout the town to solicit items from the business community such as garbage bags, gloves, water for the grand environmental day “and we are trying to get the permission of the Ministry of Education to make this an Environmental Day for all the schools, so everybody can clean their surroundings and do it in an organized manner”. “This is going to be real big, although we have short time planning, we are on a roll”, Williams stated.
