Theodore King of 222 Sideline Dam,Michael Lorenzen Reds Jersey, Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown has been jailed in his absence.Jailed in his absence: Theodore KingKing, 41,Rusney Castillo Red Sox Jersey, was yesterday convicted for escaping from lawful custody by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment.King was charged back in September for robbery under-arms. However, while he was in custody at the Brickdam Police Station, pending investigation in the offence, he escaped.His trial in relation to the charge of escaping from lawful custody commenced yesterday, with Police Prosecutor Simone Payne calling Police Constable Cleveland Williams to testify.Constable Williams, who is stationed at the Brickdam Police Station and attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), was the only witness in this trial.The Chief Magistrate, after recording the evidence ruled that the prosecution had proven the elements of the offence, and imposed the jail term.The trial in the robbery under-arms matter in which King is accused of robbing Angelica Seeraj of two gold bands, worth $100,000,Cheap Villanova Wildcats Jerseys, also started yesterday.Police Constable Devon Bowen,Jeff Keppinger White Sox Jersey, who is also stationed at the Brickdam Police Station and attached to CID, was called to testify.According to facts, King attacked and robbed Seeraj with a knife on August 13, at Avenue of the Republic,Ian Kinsler Tigers Jersey, Georgetown,Kenny Lofton Indians Jersey, and escaped.He was however positively pointed out by a public-spirited citizen, who witnessed the encounter. King was escorted to the Brickdam Police Station by Constable Williams but escaped, and was later detained.At his first court hearing, King had told the court he walked out of the police station to go home to his children, who were left alone. He had blamed his predicament on a family dispute over land.King had also indicated to the court that he was recently released from prison and had changed his life.The trial in relation to the robbery under-arms matter will continue on December 19, when the virtual complainant is expected to testify, bringing a close to the prosecution’s case. |
