A taxi driver was yesterday charged with attempting to commit murder and remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson. It was alleged that Terrence Morrison, 26, of Princes Street, Wortmanville, on February 17 attempted to murder Manzoor Ali. He was not required to plead to the indictable offence.According to his lawyer, Morrison had been in police custody since Wednesday, against the stipulated detention period. The lawyer further told the court that the virtual complainant is no longer hospitalized, further asking that bail be granted in a reasonable sum. However, Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith objected to bail because it could lead to possible interference of the virtual complainant. According to the prosecutor, Ali and Morrison were involved in an argument after which Morrison drew out a handgun and shot Ali in the arm. After the shooting an identification parade was done and the defendant was positively identified by several persons. Griffith also told the court that no alibi was given by the attorney as to the defendant’s whereabouts on the day in question.A second charge was also read to the defendant by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton. It was alleged that Morrison, on February 17,Wholesale Jerseys Free Shipping, discharged a loaded firearm with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm on Manzoor Ali. He was not required to plead since the charge was indictable.Morrison was remanded on both charges until March 31. |
