Presidential candidate for A Party for National Unity (APNU), retired brigadier David Granger, is blaming the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) for the present underdeveloped state of the Upper Mazaruni. He accused the party of attempting to use the region as a “voting farm” every elections instead of attending to people’s daily human needs for employment, education and economic opportunity.Mr. Granger and his wife meet several residents of the communityMr. Granger visited the region recently for a closer look at the residents’ living conditions. He promised the residents that he would established an Upper Mazaruni Development Agency as a means for harnessing the Region’s economic potential, encouraging investment and fast-tracking the development of the Upper Mazaruni and its people.The candidate pledged,Jerseys From China, in addition, that a greater share of the revenues derived from the mineral-rich region would be spent on the development of the Upper Mazaruni and its people. He recognized the need to improve communication and transportation, as well as to provide banking services for the people in the Upper Mazaruni. He also pointed out that the cost of living in the Mazaruni is at its highest level.The APNU Presidential Candidate emphasized that the party’s Administration would consult the people of the region before taking decisions affecting their lives and their future. He was especially critical of the current attitude of the PPP/C.Granger explained that the Administration would focus on education and employment which were key factors in ensuring what he called “a good life” for all Guyanese. He promised that the Administration would immediately improve the conditions at the essential Waramadong Secondary School.“That School has to be upgraded to provide modern education, including science and information technology, a full complement of trained teachers and adequate and healthy dormitory facilities.” |
