(Times Union) By all accounts, Sati Mangar was a doting mother and deeply religious woman working two jobs to make ends meet.Relatives and friends on Sunday evening packed her home church, Faith Deliverance Tabernacle, to recount the quiet woman from the east coast of Guyana, as city investigators worked on solving her murder.Autopsy results released Sunday, show Mangar, 56, died of blunt force trauma to the head, according to city police spokesman Kevin Green. Police discovered her body on the first floor of 402 Division St., in the Central State Street neighbourhood after being summoned there around 2:45 p.m. Saturday for an unresponsive person. The slain woman’s first cousin, Paul Mohabir,Wholesale Jerseys USA, said Mangar emigrated with her family from Guyana to the Long Island community of Elmont in 2000. Three years later, at her pastor Gewan Robert’s urging, the family moved to Schenectady. “She gave her life for her family and made a lot of sacrifices,” Mohabir said outside the packed service that attracted about 100 people. Among those in attendance was the victim’s husband Yetraj “James” Mangar, their two sons, Amos and Benjamin, and extended church family. The couple, married since 1974, has three other children, two of whom remain in their native Guyana and one in Canada. She has grandchildren in Canada and back home, said relatives. Her husband’s cousin, Ramesh “Boysie” Somwaru said Sati Mangar worked in the distribution warehouse for Transworld Entertainment and part time for an area cleaning service. “She was doing two jobs just to make ends meet,” he said, adding “she was one of the best cake and pastry makers I know.” But most of all, Somwaru and others described the woman as “quiet, kind-hearted and very reliable,” and a devout Christian.Earlier Sunday, a police car remained posted outside the home as people along the block enjoyed a sunny fall day. Funeral arrangements for Mangar are expected to be finalized today, said Mohabir. |
