Government is set to provide financial assistance to flood affected residents of Regions Nine, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon, said on Wednesday, at his weekly press briefing.He noted that the incisive interventions provided by central government in regions nine and ten was welcomed,Wholesale China Jerseys, and a Disaster Assessment And Needs Analysis (DANA) was done, and immediate support was planned and is being provided.Dr Luncheon said that Government will be using the data provided by the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) to pinpoint the affected population before arriving at an amount to disburse.“We are all preoccupied with the most immediate short term disaster relief responses and the planning of the financial household support grant project would flow into that, although there may be questions about the timelines,” Dr Luncheon said.He added at the most recent cabinet briefing it was reconfirmed that the disaster management plan will extend beyond the immediate short term period ensuring revitalization of affected communities.He said that Cabinet was updated upon the impact on the affected families and their livelihood, and it is in that context that Cabinet has decided to implement the financial household support initiative to victims of the severe floods.Dr Luncheon made comparison to the 2005 floods and the assistance given, and as such the same assistance is to be mirrored in region nine by central government. “Support of that nature will be provided to affected households.”Dr Luncheon made special mention of the activities of the relief council, GBTI, Red Cross among many others who had an input in the relief assistance.
