Dead: Leyton Garraway – Several persons questioned The police seem to have reached a dead end regarding the gruesome murder of Parika taxi driver, Leyton Garraway,Detroit Tigers Jerseys, of Lot 203 Old Road, Parika, East Bank Essequibo.Garraway’s badly battered body was found on the Dora Trail on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway two Wednesday’s ago. Since the discovery which was made by the members of the community policing group, the police have not made any arrests.The body had a severe laceration on the left hand and the left side of the face was also chopped. It appeared as though there was an attempt to sever the head.Garraway’s wife, Wornett, yesterday told Kaieteur News that relatives have not received any further updates from the police.Meanwhile, the police were able to find Garraway’s Toyota Premio which went missing after the murder. This newspaper was told that the vehicle was found on Mandela Avenue.Crime Chief Seelall Persaud yesterday told this newspaper that the police are still working on a motive for the murder.Kaieteur News was told that the police had gone back to Taxi Park and had questioned several persons in the area.In doing so, one police official said that they tried to see if anyone could give a description of the person(s) Garraway might have picked up. The police have also questioned several persons who saw a minibus in the area, prior to the grisly discovery.This newspaper was informed that residents remembered seeing a bus going down the same trail.Residents reportedly told the police that they saw three men in the trail and when they approached, the men ran away and boarded a bus, which sped away.Residents speculated that it might be the same bus, which might have been used for transporting the body to the area where it was disposed of.Kaieteur News understands that the body was found a short distance away from where terror gang suspect, Colin Jones, allegedly killed miner Woodette Roberts. |
