The Georgetown Mayor and City Council, (M&CC) will be moving to take control of a number of vacant lots across the city, especially if these have become environmental hazards.The first exercise has been conducted on Main Street, Cummingsburg, Georgetown.Kaieteur News understands that the decision to seize empty lots was taken after the Council observed that there are a number of unattended spaces in different wards of Georgetown.According to information disseminated by M&CC’s Public Relations Department, the unattended areas have become eye sores. Additionally, the Council noted that the environment is said to be a haven for the criminal minded to pounce on unsuspecting citizens.
