Residents of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara are calling on police ranks to either kill or capture two pit bulls that have been roaming the community for at least a month and attacking passersby. The demands escalated yesterday after the dogs viciously attacked a 10-year-old girl in the vicinity of Eleventh Avenue as the child was heading to her parents’ home after lessons.Jady JosephJady Joseph, who attends the New Diamond/Grove Primary, was bitten on the legs and left hand after the dogs pounced on her and knocked her to the ground. Only the presence of residents, who threw missiles at the dogs, saved her from further harm. She was admitted to the East Bank Demerara Regional Hospital.The child, who lives at Twenty-First Avenue, Diamond, told Kaieteur News that she had just left classes and was walking along the access road, near Eleventh Avenue, when the two dogs, said to be pit bulls, pounced on her and began to bite her.“People came and pelted them and a taxi driver took me to the hospital,” the child recalled.Jady’s mother, Latoya Joseph, said that the same taxi driver informed her of the attack.
