Guyanese author Dr Julie Jailall handed over a book of short stories to Education Minister Shaik Baksh Thursday last. It was one of her publications.The book covers several topical issues including domestic violence, child abuse and teenage pregnancy. It aims to help high school teachers prepare students for the CSEC English ‘A’ examination.A seasoned educator, Dr Julie Jailall’s book is captioned “Sharda” and is available at Giftland’s Office Max.Dr. Julie JailallThe book is the first by the Guyanese author who has published a number of short stories in high school and college magazines.Dr Jailall said that the publication is a reflection of some of her childhood accounts of life in Guyana, and is a fulfillment of her dream to preserve those memories.The author, who taught at Cummings Lodge Secondary, located on the outskirts of Georgetown, migrated to the Bahamas in 1987, and after teaching for about two years on the island, she moved to the United States.In 2010, Dr Jailall moved to Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates where she worked as an English specialist with the Abu Dhabi Education Council.During her one-year tenure, she served as professor at the Abu Dhabi University in the Education Leadership Degree Programme.
