The Bank of Nova Scotia Guyana, Robb Street branch yesterday donated an estimated $1.5M to a number of charitable social services as part of their “give-back” initiative.Robb Street Scotia Bank employees with social service representativesThe handing over ceremony saw the Saxacalli Mission, Red Cross Convalescence Home, Shaheed’s Girls and Boys Orphanage, Periwinkle Club and Help and Shelter receiving cash donations from the local branch.These foundations were chosen from the bank’s database for their continued loyalty to the organization. As such Scotia Bank representative,Wholesale Jerseys, Brian Hackett, explained that the bank matched the funds raised by each foundation, along with donating toiletries hamper to Guyana Help and Shelter.The Scotia Bank, Robb Street branch has been consistently making contributions to these foundations with the last 15 years dedicated to additional contributions in breast cancer research to the Periwinkle Club.As part of its initiative, the bank aimed to make its donations in time for International Women’s Day observances, as many of the foundations address issues of domestic violence and breast cancer research.“We wanted to make it a very special event to correlate with International Women’s Day,” said Hackett.The Bank intends on continuing their charitable efforts in the coming months, especially in the area of child protection and breast cancer research. |
