Businessman Mahendra Jagabandan, called “Pet Boy”, of 29 Howes and Ketley Streets, Charlestown, was yesterday placed on $15,000 bail for using threatening language against Gerberdan Arjoon.When he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded not guilty.It was alleged that Jagabandan committed the offence on January 27.  He is being represented by attorney Michael Sommersaul.Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith did not oppose bail. She said that there was a misunderstanding between the defendant and the Arjoon at Pet Boy’s store where Arjoon had gone to purchase liquor. Sommersaul told the court that the Arjoon had purchased liquor from the defendant on credit some time earlier. On returning to the store on January 27,Cheap Soccer Jerseys, Jagbandan enquired about his money.The lawyer said that the defendant is eager for the matter to go to trial so he could be exonerated.Gerberdan Arjoon said that he had indeed bought the liquor from Jagabandan. He said that the same liquor was seized by the Guyana Revenue Authority because the vendor did not pay the duty on the liquor.Arjoon continued that he told the defendant that he would not pay him for the liquor unless he pays the GRA.Jagabandan then became angry and started telling him that if he had come with four other guys who would normally accompany him the situation would have been different.Arjoon said that he left the store and reported the threats to a nearby police station.The defendant is expected to make his next court appearance on March 20.
