The other graduate is currently undertaking similar procedures at the New Amsterdam hospital.According to Professor Isaac, the Echocardiography programme consisted of a pre-course education module where information is provided to the candidates and this is internalised over a period of four weeks.During this time, the candidates of the programme were subjected to an online mentorship programme and examinations which were immediately followed by an eight-week programme at the GPHC echocardiography lab.The final week of the programme saw candidates undergoing several clinical correlation sessions and evaluations and according to Professor Isaac who noted that “it is surprising that they are still able to smile…”A number of echocardiography specialists and technologists volunteered their time and knowledge to the programme which complemented the skills of doctors which were recruited by the Health Ministry to facilitate the programme.Addressing the now echocardiography lab certified doctors, yesterday, was Cardiologist attached to the Caribbean Heart Institute, Dr. Mahender Carpen, who also acts in the capacity of Director of Internal Medicine.According to him, it is expected that the graduates would utilise their knowledge to specifically target cardiovascular diseases and help to have a significant impact on reducing mortality in the population.“We are hoping that in the near future we will move from a third to maybe a quarter and then even less…elsewhere 80 and 90 years is the life expectancy; we are going to get there at some point and it will start by targeting the area that takes most of our people – cardiovascular diseases,Wholesale Authentic NFL Jerseys,” said Dr. Carpen.
