A man who allegedly slashed his mother in the face with a broken bottle was yesterday remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.Paul Headley, 40, of Princes Street, Lodge, is accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding his mother, Roylance Headley, on February 24. He pleaded guilty and told the magistrate that he was attacked by his mother. The man said that he was looking at his mother’s head tie when she struck him in the face with a glass bottle.Headley said that the bottle broke and piece of the bottle slashed his mother’s face. The magistrate entered a not guilty plea after his explanation. However his mother told the magistrate a different version of events. She claimed that her son was trying to look at her head tie and she objected.The woman said her son picked up a sharp instrument and slashed her to the face.Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford opposed bail. The prosecutor said that bail should be denied because of the seriousness of the offence,NFL Jerseys Wholesale, adding that the son had previously spent six months in jail for wounding his mother.Telford said that if bail was granted there was the likelihood that Headley might commit a more serious offence.Bail was denied.The accused is expected to make another court appearance on April 22. |
