Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday granted $150,000 bail each to Quacy Glasgow, 24, and Kenny Tyndall, 17, both of East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme. The two men appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer a joint charge of robbery under arms.It is alleged that the duo on January 15, armed with a knife, robbed Rashleigh Joseph of one laptop, a cell phone and a bicycle. The two accused are scheduled to return to court on April 21.Meanwhile, in the same court, Jason Burnette also known as Jason Gonsalves was remanded on two counts of robbery under arms and possession of firearm and ammunition charges.With respect to the robbery charges, it is alleged that on January 18, armed with a firearm, Burnette robbed Tonnette Henry of one gold chain, five gold rings, a pair of gold jingles, valued at a total of $440,000 and a laptop, property of Carib Diamond Drilling Company, valued at $180,000.It is also alleged that on December 30, Burnette robbed Andrew Davis at knifepoint of one cell phone, one silver ring and $860 in cash, a total value of $31,860.Burnette was also accused of having in his possession, on January 18, one snub nose .38 revolver and five live rounds of .38 special ammunition without being the holder of a firearm licence.Burnette, who was represented by attorney at law Glenn Hanoman, was not required to plead to the two indictable charges of robbery under arms but pleaded not guilty to the possession charges.Hanoman applied for the matters to be transferred. He explained that he made such an application because his client was experiencing uncomfortable feelings about the magistrate trying his case, since the magistrate threatened to sue him (Hanoman) for statements made in her court. However the magistrate denied his application.Police prosecutor Joel Ricknauth requested that the magistrate remand the defendant on all charges and to set a date for trial on the two possession charges.Magistrate Octive-Hamilton then granted the prosecutor’s request and remanded the accused on all charges. He is expected to return to court on February 18 with respect to the two robbery charges, and on April 22, for trial on the two possession charges.Deon Wayne, meanwhile, appeared before the same magistrate on two gun-related charges, namely discharging a loaded firearm and robbery under arms. He was remanded.It is alleged that on April 23, 2009, Wayne discharged a loaded firearm at Emit Sawyer with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm. It is also alleged that on the same day while being armed with a gun, he robbed Roysdale Sutton of one gold band and a gold ring totaling $140,000.Wayne was unrepresented and pleaded not guilty to the charges. He then applied for bail on his own behalf. Magistrate Octive-Hamilton denied his request. He is scheduled to return to court on April 22.And a musician from the National Steel Orchestra was also remanded by the same MagistrateLennox Wayne, 24, of East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, when he appeared to answer a charge of robbery under arms.
