Several weeks after the incident, McLean spotted the defendant on Regent Street and summoned the police.James was apprehended, told of the offence, arrested and charged.Meanwhile, Orin Chester was also given a six-month jail term on a simple larceny charge by Magistrate Annette Singh.Chester, of 123 South Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara, pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on May 19, at Fabric World Store, Regent Street, he stole two jerseys and four hats, valued $1,500 – the property of Rashad Baksh.Police Prosecutor, Adunni Inniss told the court that on the day in question around 14:25hrs the defendant was caught by the store manager stealing the items. The matter was reported to the police and he was arrested and charged.In addition, Chester was also charged with damaging a car window valued $17,000, on May 19, at Albert Street. The car was the property of Ramchand Mangru.He pleaded guilty to the charge and explained to the magistrate that he did not commit the act intentionally.  He told the magistrate that he and another man were involved in a scuffle next to the car. Chester said that he dodged when the man was about to punch and the man hit the car window instead.After hearing his explanation, a not guilty plea was recorded for him.This matter will be called again on June 11, for the commencement of a trial.
