…operated minibus repeatedly without drivers’ licences  The police high command are peeved and  are conducting intense investigation after high profile criminal, Richard Barrow, escaped on Friday from the Central Police station, New Amsterdam.In the meanwhile, the two police officers who were on duty when the notorious Barrow, called ‘110’, escaped, are still in custody and may be charged criminally soon.The two officers, a female corporal who was in charge of the shift and the male constable who took the prisoners out of the cell, were placed under close arrest at the Central Police Station pending investigation.Barrow,  30, of Lot 75 Mocha, East Bank Demerara, who is wanted for crimes committed in various parts of  Guyana, escaped Friday morning from The Central Police station  less than 24 hours after he was captured  in a police sting operation  on Thursday  at Mon Repos , East Coast Demerara.Barrow and another notorious criminal, Mark Lee Young,  were fingered in  the daring daylight robbery on Tuesday February 7, on Rams Jewelry World and Pawn Shop at Lot 52 Public Road,Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys, Rosignol West Bank Berbice. He was searched and a bag that he had in his possession was found to contain a quantity of jewelry, an unlicensed .32 pistol with 9 matching rounds and an unlicensed .38 snub-nose revolver with four matching rounds.He was positively identified.  Barrow had managed to breach the police cordon and escaped.The police had breathed a sigh of relief knowing that the two men were in custody. Young was taken to Georgetown on Thursday where he and Barrow were placed on various Identification parades. Young was identified four times while Barrow was picked out on two occasions.The men were brought to Berbice on Thursday evening and were expected to be placed on a series of Identification Parades, when Barrow escaped.Young, who was sentenced in his absence to three years’ in jail, has been cooperating with investigators. He has admitted to a number of crimes, including the robbery/ kidnapping which occurred on January 10, on West Coast of Berbice.  He admitted that he was the getaway driver.The man has been driving for a number of years, including operating minibuses and has never been the holder of a driver’s license. He has since been charged and remanded to jail.  In court he gave his occupation as minibus driver.Barrow was among a number of prisoners in custody when some of them were taken out of their cells around 07:00 hrs and 07:30 hrs on Friday for the cells to be cleaned. The prisoners were also allowed to refresh themselves under the guard of the lone policeman, when Barrow made good his escape.Barrow had started to behave erratic during his brief stay in custody and had vowed that he would not go to jail and will do whatever is possible.  A source told this publication that with Barrow being a high profile criminal in custody more precautions should have been taken.Another source had stated that the man once jumped from the top of the MV Torani and swam out of the Berbice River and escaped after he realised that he was cornered.The police have issued a wanted bulletin for Barrow. Investigations are continuing
