Approximately 500 workers employed with the Bosai Minerals Group at its Linden bauxite operations will soon benefit from a 7% across-the-board payment package agreed to by their union, National Association of Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Employees (NAACIE), and the Management of Bosai Minerals Group Guyana Inc.,  yesterday at the Watooka Complex in the mining town.Some of the benefits to accrue from the agreement include an education allowance of $10,000 to workers with seven years service,Jerseys Cheap Wholesale, and those with five years and less, $5,000, which is expected to go towards equipping employee’s children with school supplies.Workers’ meal allowance has also been raised from $700 to $825.NAACIE General Secretary Kenneth Joseph (left) and BOSAI GM George Zhoa, hold copies of the agreement.Among those in attendance at the signing of the agreement were Chief Labour Officer Yoganand Persaud, Interim Management Committee Chairman Orrin Gordon and senior executives of Bosai including the General Manager, George Zhoa, Senior Personnel Relations Officer,Jerseys From China, Vance Reid, and Branch Chairman of NAACIE, Lethem Wilson.Officials on the NAACIE side included General Secretary, Kenneth Joseph, and Linden Branch Chairman, Linnell Warden.Based on the new agreement, workers will now receive a retroactive payment of an across-the-board seven per cent increase, effective from March 31st this year.The Chief Labour Officer said that it is good that the workers themselves negotiated an agreement.“We at the ministry are very happy, because it is ownership when you have an agreement between Management and Union. It is easier to implement because it came from them. They understand the Agreement, they understand the conditions. So it makes more sense that it comes from a bilateral level. It is easier to implement… that is one, and the workers themselves own the agreement.”So we are very happy to be a part of the formal ceremony of signing the Agreement. We were here to give guidance to any aspect that may be needed. We encourage bilateral negotiations or agreement…or any other difficulty they may have we try to encourage that bilateral negotiation. They must sit down at the table and have talks. Rather than being confrontational, we prefer that to be at the table.”Personnel Relations Officer Vance Reid noted that the negotiations weren’t difficult, but like all negotiations it had little ‘ups and downs’ in the deliberations.“We had to convince the other side and vice versa. I think it was okay. We didn’t have much of a disagreement for a long period. We had difficulty and we had caucus, we negotiate some of the finer points and come out with a conclusion. Sometimes when you are negotiating, you tend to push a little harder. Both sides do that, but then we would stop and reflect on where we want to go and finally we get a good document.”“Basically it is two documents, but one is in the body of the other. The Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) is for four years. Then the wages agreement is for one year, it is annually negotiated. It is part and parcel of the CLA.”According to Reid, the CLA will come to an end in 2015, while the wages agreement will conclude in another seven months.He further pointed out,MLB Jerseys China Authentic, “The wages increase is an across-the-board increase of 7 per cent. We have increases in our annual leave raised to 6.5 per cent in the case of hourly workers with five years and above,Jerseys From China, and 7 per cent for the Foremen. For those hourly employees who have less than five years, they will only receive 6 per cent. We have some other agreement in terms of the Provident Fund, which is in case of an emergency for employees from time to time.We have raised that from $30,000 to $40,000… we have in addition for employees medical benefits for dental, optical for both the wife and the dependents, so the employee’s children or wife or spouse will now be able to get those services in any hospital of their choice.NAACIE Branch Chairman Linnell Warden pointed out that the wage increase of 7 per cent,Cheap NFL Jerseys, is ‘most reasonable’He commended the pension plan where workers would get dentures along with medical care for themselves and family. From our agreement we want to put in place conditions where children can be encouraged through the educational grant; parents will be encouraged because they have this assistance which is to send their children to school, and we hope that we can assist to build the community to produce better employees and the company can increase its productivity and we all get benefits from it.”General Manger of BOSAI Group Guyana Inc Mr. George Zhoa declared “We have reached an agreement, so we take care of the company’s position and our employees. We have a stable workforce and that’s the most important thing for a company. The employee gets what they need and the company gets what it needs. Both sides got a lot out of the agreement.”
