A 34-year-old miner, Clive Robinson, is now a patient in the male surgical ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), following a mishap last Tuesday at a Sand Hill mining pit in which he was working.Clive Robinson in his hospital bed yesterday.Robinson told Kaieteur News that he was down in the pit digging when the walls collapsed and covered him for a period of time before he was rescued by his workmates.Robinson recounted his ordeal as a frightening one. He said that being a close to death’s door, he used his last strength to push his head out of what he described as “thick mud”.“I used my last strength to push my head out the mud… Then my ‘partner’ take me out,” recalled Robinson.After spending some ten minutes at the camp, the injured miner was rushed to the Bartica Hospital where he received medical attention but was later transferred to the GPHC for further treatment.He has since disclosed that he is scheduled for a surgery soon and is in need of blood. He said that his boss has kept in contact with him.The man, originally from Kurukabaru Village, Region Eight, said that he was staying with his sister in Atlantic Gardens,Wholesale Jerseys China, but according to him she cannot afford to take care of him fulltime, so he will be heading back to work as soon as his injury has healed.Miraculously the only significant injury he sustained was a broken right leg and abrasions about his body. He has expressed much optimism as he blurted out, “I will find work just now.”Yesterday Robinson was in high spirits. It was quite obvious as his humour brought a smile to the faces of fellow warded mates, visitors and a nurse who was sharing lunch. |
