Three former employees of the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) were yesterday granted bail in the sum of $1M dollars each,Juan Carlos Valenzuela Mexico Jersey, when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.Joy Garraway, 34,Hugo Ayala Mexico Jersey, of Lot 4 James Street, Albouystown, Sherwin Clarke,Mexico Jersey, 29 , of 2118 Block X Grove/Diamond Housing Scheme and Delroy O’ Neil, 30,Francisco Silva Chile Jersey, of Lot 582 West Ruimvelt, are accused of stealing from their former place of employment, two dispensing containers valued $177,120 and 2.961 kilogrammes of fuel markers costing $2,930,200 – a total value of $3,007,Luis Montes Mexico Jersey,320.According to the particulars, the trio’s actions were recorded on the company’s surveillance camera. It is alleged that on the day in question,Fernando Muslera Uruguay Jersey, the accused made their way to the GEA compound, via motor car, where they opened the gate and let themselves in.They further proceeded towards the storeroom area where they parked the vehicle. The court heard that individuals were seen on the camera heading towards the recording device and it subsequently went blank.Sometime later the camera resumed working and one of the accused was seen heading back to the car,Javier Guemez Mexico Jersey, which was already outside of the compound, and which was driven off after he had entered. The court was also told that the accused had supposedly cut away at the rivets that secured the lever of the storeroom and removed same.According to reports,Isaac Brizuela Mexico Jersey, the items were only discovered missing after workers had turned up for work the next morning to find that the items were not available for them to commenced working. It was also understood that the camera was checked and the three persons were identified. The prosecutor told the court that he had no objections to bail, only that it should be substantial.The magistrate granted the trio bail of $1M each.They will make their next appearance at the same court on November 21. |
