The Linden Fund USA (LFU), in collaboration with the Overseas Medical Assistance Team (OMAT),Alshon Jeffery Jersey, and the Women of Mission International (WOMI), is set to conduct its annual medical mission to Linden – Guyana,Walter Payton Jersey, from July 28 to August 3, 2013, according to secretary of the LFU, Linda Felix-Johnson.The medical services are administered free of cost by OMAT. Hundreds of people in Linden and Region Ten benefit each year.As in previous years,Richard Dent Jersey, in addition to these services, a series of educational forums for medical professionals and community members, will also be held along with a National Woman’s conference in collaboration with the Women Of Mission International,Brian Urlacher Bears Jersey, a women’s empowerment organization, Felix Johnson said.Comprising the visiting team will be medical doctors and surgeons from the USA, who will be supported by overseas nurses, social workers and support staff.The team, as always, will work collaboratively with medical personnel attached to the Linden Hospital Complex, Felix added.OMAT is headed by our very own Lindener, Dr. Stephen Carryl,Jay Cutler Bears Jersey, Chairman of Surgery at the Wyckoff Heights Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY,Rico Gathers Cowboys Jersey, who is also the President of OMAT.The visiting team includes medical doctors and surgeons from the USA,Robert Newhouse Cowboys Jersey, who will be supported by overseas nurses, social workers and support staff, as well as nurses and other medical personnel attached to the Linden Hospital Complex.The schedule of activities for the visit includes daily medical treatment and surgeries at the Mackenzie Hospital Complex a Health Fair and Lecture at the LEN building on July 31, 2013 to educate the public on conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, HIV/AIDS, prostate, breast and cervical cancers.There will also be an all-day Women’s Conference themed, “Take Action – Make It Happen” on July 30 at the Egbert Benjamin Center on Republic Ave in Linden and lectures for nurses at the Linden Hospital Complex.Subsequent to these activities a pediatric community outreach will be held on August 2 at the Wisroc Pediatric Centre, followed by a Community Outreach and Day Trip to Muritaro (up the Demerara River) on Saturday August 3.According to Felix-Johnson, in 2007, the LFU teamed with a 30-member North East Mission of Hope medical team to sponsor the first medical outreach for the people of the Linden community and Region 10.Then three years later in 2010,Randy White Jersey, the LFU teamed up with OMAT and WOMI to provide medical services to the Linden community.“Throughout these years our dedicated team has worked around the clock during the visits to provide hundreds of critical surgeries and procedures to the people of Linden.“So the 2013 team is very excited to resume these much needed services, after a break in 2012, due to the unrest in the Linden area.”Felix is exhorting members of the Linden community and residents of Region Ten to seize the opportunity to receive free and expert medical treatment, which would be complementing the existing services, offered at the local hospitals and health centers.She is also encouraging Medical professionals,Troy Aikman Cowboys Jersey, to join the Fund’s registry to volunteer and provide services to the people of Region Ten on a regular basis. |
