The preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder of 16-year-old Queen’s College student, Neesa Lalita Gopaul,Angelo Henriquez Jersey, continued yesterday with Corporal Floyd Hosanna giving his evidence in Chief.Hosanna testified about certain events leading up to the arrest of the two defendants, Jarvis Small and Bibi Gopaul.Small,Fabian Orellana Jersey, who is a gym instructor,Jorge Valdivia Chile Jersey, and Gopaul,Sergio Busquets Barcelona Jersey, the teen’s mother, are accused of killing the girl between September 24 and October 2,Erick Pulgar Chile Jersey, last year, at Madewini on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.The matter is being heard before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.Pritima Kissoon, who is prosecuting the case and Senior Counsel Bernard De Santos for the defence, was present at yesterday’s hearing.The matter is scheduled to continue today.Neesa Gopaul went missing on September 23, last. Her mother made a report at the Leonora Police Station two days later. The girl’s body was found at the Emerald Towers Resort,Arturo Vidal Jersey, on the Highway on October 2,Charles Aranguiz Chile Jersey, last.The teen’s disfigured body was in a large suitcase that was dumped into the Madewini Creek. Certain articles found in the suitcase led to the arrest of Jarvis Small and Bibi Gopaul who were subsequently charged for the murder.A length of rope was wrapped around the body and the killers had attached two dumb-bells, weighing more than 80 pounds,Ivan Luis Zamorano Jersey, to the other end of the rope,Carlos Carmona Chile Jersey, apparently in an effort to weigh the body down. The victim was wearing a pair of black shorts and a multi-coloured top. Her passport and a bankcard were found with the remains.A family that had gone to the abandoned resort to swim in the Madewini Creek made the gruesome discovery. |
