Despite relentless arguments by attorney at law Khemraj Ramjattan,Christian Folin Jersey, Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson refused to grant bail to the driver who was involved in the accident which claimed the life of eight-year-old Anuradha Dawan.The man,Kris Versteeg Jersey, Aubrey Barker of La Penitence Street, Albouystown,Aaron Ekblad Team North America Jersey, was not required to plead to the indictable offence of causing death by dangerous driving.It is alleged that on June 4, he drove his vehicle in a dangerous manner which resulted in the death of Anuradha Dawan. A second charge stated that on June 4,Jake Allen Jersey, while being in lawful custody he escaped. His lawyer in a bail application said that his client has an unblemished record. He added that he was very surprised at the escaping from lawful custody charge.The lawyer told the court that it was a rank that sent his client away from the police station.  According to the lawyer, the child ran in front of his client’s vehicle and was struck down. Ramjattan said that his client took the injured child to the hospital and remained there.Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford objected to bail. According to the prosecutor, after the incident happened he indeed was helping,Joakim Nordstrom Jersey, but later disappeared. Telford explained that Barker asked a rank to use the toilet and disappeared.“The life of an innocent girl was snuffed out because of a dangerous driver” said the prosecutor. He said that Barker should have exercised more caution when using the roadways.The prosecutor said that one must take into consideration the prevalence of the offence. He said that the young child never regained consciousness and died two days after the accident.  The magistrate remanded Barker and ordered him to return to court on June 10.According to the child’s relatives,Teuvo Teravainen Jersey, Anuradha was sent by her mother shortly after 4.30 pm on Friday to purchase a bottle of water.
