For weeks the lights installed on the East Bank Demerara Highway, particularly in the communities of Farm and Covent Garden,Brad Richards Red Wings Jersey, have not been lit to provide improved visibility for both drivers and pedestrians.In an effort to ascertain what is the cause of the issue Kaieteur News spoke to Leon Goring,Andre Branch Dolphins Jersey, Chief Engineer at BK International who was awarded the contract to install the lights.Goring said that the company is currently in the process of acquiring two poles to replace a pair that was damaged as a result of separate vehicular accidents. He said that in both instances a truck had collided with the metal poles causing irreparable damage.In addition to the new poles,Throwback Jerseys, Goring said that the company is procuring the requisite arms to be attached to the poles so that new lights can be installed. According to him, due to the accidents,Deion Sanders Falcons Jersey, the electrical circuit was disrupted leading to a sectional shutdown.When asked how soon motorists can expect the lights to be up and working, he said that BK International is working hard on the issue. He said that as of last week he engaged the contractor about the issue and was informed that the matter also has the attention of the Guyana Power and Light (GPL). |
