Tessa Robertson, who was charged with robbery underarms, yesterday appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.The allegation against Robertson states that on June 14 at Stone Avenue, Blygezigt while armed with a gun, robbed Terold James of a 12-volt car battery, US$100, one car deck, one equalizer, and $3,000 in local currency.The 37-year-old defendant pleaded not guilty.Police Prosecutor Venetta Pindar said that on June 14, about 03:30 hours James was driving south along Stone Avenue when the accused and another person asked James for a ride to a given destination.The court was told that when Robertson entered the car she drew a handgun, pointed it at the complainant and ordered him to exit the car.She then took the articles and made good her escape.Pindar stated that James’s relatives and police ranks went to the defendant’s home and conducted a search in her presence.They discovered the articles and the defendant was subsequently cautioned,Sam Mills Panthers Jersey, arrested and charged with the offence.The prosecution objected to the defendant being granted bail.Robertson was then remanded to prison. She is expected to make her next court appearance on June 30. |
