They were unable to save anything as the fire quickly spread to every inch of the house.The fire service worked to contain the blaze and eventually started using water from a pool on the premises. The deck area which is fitted with chairs and tables is probably one of the only places at the property that survived the fire.Mc Lean said that the cost of the damage could not be determined, but he estimated that it goes into the millions.  He disclosed that the property was insured. He further told Kaieteur News that there were numerous sentimental items that were among items destroyed. For instance Mc Lean said that Sita Ramlall had an extensive law book collection which was lost in the inferno.He further stated that the members of the household, including Ramlall’s 85 year old mother, would be staying at other relatives.
